In this video, Father Zaharia Zaharou discusses the important role that the Virgin Mary played in the Birth of Jesus Christ, and how her ministry began from the time she was brought into the temple. He goes on to explain how the Theotokos from a young age not only knew God, but she also felt her connection to the entire humanity. Father Zaharia says that this realization and knowledge stemmed from the fact that the Virgin Mary’s will and God’s will were one and the same.

Much of this comes from the Protoevangelium of James, concerning which no one knows by whom it was written, and about which assertions (that she was raised in the Temple, for example) there is no evidence. She was a quiet and humble girl, for sure. No doubt she loved God and came from a devout family.
