Gathered by eyewitnesses, principally his own brother and sister, we see here the beginnings of a young man who would become a Saint of universal significance: St. John Maximovitch, Wonderworker of Shanghai and San Francisco. As a boy, Michael Maximovitch was kind, obedient to his parents, and especially loved reading the lives of the Saints. It’s not difficult to see how his consumption of the lives of the Saints as a boy sparked in him a love for God, and in response God granted him many of the same gifts and virtues as the Saints he came to know as a boy.
St. John resposed on July 2nd, 1966 in Seattle, WA while praying before the Kursk Root icon of the Mother of God.

Holy Hierarch John, pray to God for us!
This channel is dedicated to sharing the writings and lives of the Saints of the Eastern Orthodox Church. Glory to Jesus Christ!
Amazing, I'm so nowhere near this, the only thing I'm doing is keeping someone in free money so they supply their retail therapy needs and their families' needs every morning when they stop by.
I can only guess this is God's purpose for me to be their cash cow.
What an inspiring life! He exemplified what being faithful to our holy Orthodox Faith is all about! May God have mercy on us. 🙏
Thank you! St John Maximovitch is a beloved piece of the heart of west coast Orthodoxy and it is so beneficial to hear more and more details of his life. I hope you do more of his writings too.
I woke up this morning to prepare for an Orthodox Christian Youth Camp, where I'll be teaching teenagers how to paint icons. Part of this "preparation" included repairing the cover of an old copy of the Orthodox Word entitiled "Youth And Sanctity." Having forgotten that today is the Feast Day of St. John Maximovitch, I eagerly clicked on this video thinking to myself "Oh good, listening to a reading on his holy young life is just what I need right now." As I continued to repair this old copy of the Orthodox Word, printed in 1974, I noticed it contained the article "The Holy Childhood of Archbishop John Maximovitch" which was the very article being read on this video! Glory be to Jesus Christ for His providential proddings, synchronicity & most of all, His great mercy!
Amen Amen Amen ☦️ I love St. John he’s such a blessing to us all. May St. John Maximovitch intercede for the salvation of our souls☦️💕
