A reading of the Life of St. Bede, Hieromonk of Wearmouth-Jarrow (+735). St. Bede, also commonly called the “Venerable Bede,” dedicated his life to teaching, writing, and translating the Scriptures and the Holy Fathers. His most famous work is the “Ecclesiastical History of the English People” but he also wrote the Life of St. Cuthbert and finished the first translation of the Gospel of John into early English just before his repose. A tireless servant of Christ, we commemorate him on May 26th.
