1. Thank you for teaching this in such a practical way. I LOVE your point, “The Judaism in Jesus’s time is not the same as the Judaism that is practiced today!” Men’s hearts are so weak and wicked that they would pick and choose how they want to ‘spread God’s word’ and still have their own agendas at the same time. But thank God for Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection; so that those who choose to be saved through ‘FAITH’ would have a chance to escape this madness that has possessed many prideful humans since the very beginning of time. 2. This is so ridiculous. Our Judaism is the same. It never changed.

   Firstly, Jesus taught to love one's neighbor. While this is perfectly reasonable, and a great teaching, it comes straight from our Torah. So a Jew's job is not to externalize the mitzvot (commandments). Indeed, mitzvot can also be read as 'connections.' When a Jew keeps Shabbat, he's not just following a command from On High. He's connecting with his Maker, the G-d of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. So, in essence, we too internalize G-d-consciousness in our hearts. This false division–that only Christianity can internalize faith, it's just not true.

   Now, back to the above idea. The Judaism of today has always been here. The Pharisees didn't invent anything new. Indeed, Moses was given an oral tradition but this oral tradition is nothing threatening. It's just an explanation of the Written Torah (the five books of Moses). Many said laws are vague. They need clarification, and it is exactly that which the Talmud, or Gemara (and earlier, the Mishnah) sets out to do.

   So again, I'm afraid Father Spyridon is just flat out wrong. Many misunderstand the faith of bnei Yisrael (the children of Israel). Perhaps this is because they're Christians, not Jews.

   I'd never speak ill about Buddhism or Hinduism, I even respect Christianity. I wish more Christians would offer that same respect to their fellow Jews, the parents of their faith.

19. Very well said, and I'd have to agree. My only problem comes from Matthew 23:9 "call no man your father upon the earth, for one is your father, which is in heaven." How do you justify titling yourself father? Not trying to be unkind.
