-Chanted by the choir of St. Symeon Orthodox Church
These hymns are chanted during the portion of the Orthodox wedding service known as the Dance of Isaiah. At this point, the bride and groom are led by the priest in a triple procession around the center table. During this procession, the bride and groom wear crowns as a symbol of martyrdom. In the Orthodox Church, marriage is understood to be a sacred mystery, or sacrament of the Church. A proper marriage which has Christ as its center is seen as a path towards salvation, allowing a person to die to one’s self by sacrificing one’s own will and desires for that of the other person.
Beautiful…Praise the LORD
so rich and beautiful
Stunning ☦️☦️☦️
Few things are more beautiful than an Orthodox wedding. Like my word. My first ever wedding was singing in a small 5 person choir, and I almost had to stop at the dance of isaiah bc I was going to burst out in tears.
I am Orthodox and want to be married someday to an Orthodox priest
Maybe 10 years from now <3
It's interesting to note these hymns are also used at ordinations.
Robust and deep. The EO Church’s hymnography makes Amazing Grace look like a school child’s scrivnership.
Βίον ανθόσπαρτον! Совет да любовь !!!
In English??? That sounds weird. English is definitely not a tongue for Orthodoxy.
