Thank you always for your wisdom, Fr. Moody. The intercession of the saints might be one of the most difficult traditions of the church for those coming from a protestant background to accept (I know it was for me when I first began my journey into Orthodoxy). Videos like these help a lot. God bless.
Audio sounds great!
Thank you Fr. Moody. I am a former Baptist pastor in process of conversion to Orthodoxy. Your lectures are helpful. The closest local Orthodox church to where I live in northern Nova Scotia, Canada, is 2 1/2 hours away. Please pray for me.
Coming out a Southern Baptist world, videos like this are helpful; so thank you, Father! However, I still have two stumbling blocks with the Intercession of the Saints that I hope to resolve, if you have the time to answer. 1) If only God can know our hearts, and salvation is only His to give, how can we be sure the Saints from whom we ask prayer are actually in Heaven? If they're not, couldn't this be a dangerous opportunity for demonic interception? And 2) Even if they are, how can we be sure they even hear us? given that time may not operate identically for the departed as for us. You touched on this one in the video, but I'm still somewhat confused, so please forgive my ignorance!
The only thing that confuses me is that Solomon did end up refusing his mother because Adonijah was seeking his throne. “Why do you request Abishag the Shunammite for Adonijah? You might as well request the kingdom for him—after all, he is my older brother” 1 Kings 2:22. Adonijah actually ended up being executed because of this.
Finding your channel father has turned into a great blessing thank you
