Father Sofian Boghiu discusses in this talk how important it is for us Orthodox Christians to pray to the Virgin Mary and to ask for her intersessions to Christ on our behalf. He underlines the fact that the Theotokos has this ability to intercede for us, because Christ loves her so much that he is willing to overlook our many faults and sins for her sake. He then recounts a miracle that took place in the communist prison with a fellow inmate, and how the Virgin Mary saved his life.

Father Sofian Boghiu was a Romanian monk from the age of fourteen, and elder of the Orthodox Church for many years. He was apart of “Rugul Aprins”, a spirtual movement within the Romanian Orthodox Church that represented the fire of Orthodox faithful which could not be silenced by communist persecution. His spiritual advice and guidance helped hundreds of thousands of people over the years grow spiritually, and is words brought comfort to those living under the communist regime who were being suppressed. In addition, he served 12 years in prison for his unwillingness to hide his love for God and his Orthodox Faith!
