paul false apotel, instead faith with works give salvation
Every Protestant that proclaims that we are justified by Faith Alone should HEAR these FOUR words by James 2:24 echoing in their heads:
"not by faith alone." "not by faith alone." "not by faith alone." "not by faith alone." "not by faith alone." "not by faith alone." "not by faith alone." "not by faith alone." "not by faith alone." "not by faith alone." "not by faith alone." "not by faith alone." "not by faith alone." "not by faith alone." "not by faith alone." "not by faith alone." "not by faith alone." "not by faith alone." "not by faith alone." "not by faith alone." "not by faith alone." "not by faith alone." "not by faith alone." "not by faith alone." "not by faith alone." "not by faith alone." "not by faith alone." "not by faith alone." "not by faith alone." "not by faith alone."

Catholic way to dealing with the Faith Alone. James 2:14-26
Works are just evidence of our Christian faith, there is nothing we can do to achieve salvation, if we could then God the Son didn't have to come down and experience death in the flesh for us, and also if we could do works to achieve salvation then that would mean our Savior did not do the perfect job either, but He did do the perfect job.
God bless!
Serve and do good for one another 🙂
The law is not done away with in the new testament Below are five witnesses from the new testament that confirm that the Torah must still be followed by all believers in Yeshua. Shalom… #ReturnToTorah
2 Corinthians 13:1 Christian Standard Bible (CSB) 13 This is the third time I am coming to you. Every matter must be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.

James 1:23-25 Complete Jewish Bible (CJB)
23 For whoever hears the Word but doesn’t do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror, 24 who looks at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25 But if a person looks closely into the perfect Torah, which gives freedom, and continues, becoming not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work it requires, then he will be blessed in what he does.
James 2:10-11 New King James Version (NKJV)
10 For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all. 11 For He who said, “Do not commit adultery,” also said, “Do not murder.” Now if you do not commit adultery, but you do murder, you have become a transgressor of the law.
James 2:20 English Standard Version (ESV)
20 Do you want to be shown, you foolish person, that faith apart from works is useless?
James 2:26 English Standard Version (ESV)
26 For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, so also faith apart from works is dead.
James 4:11 Complete Jewish Bible (CJB)
11 Brothers, stop speaking against each other! Whoever speaks against a brother or judges a brother is speaking against Torah and judging Torah. And if you judge Torah, you are not a doer of what Torah says, but a judge.

Acts 21:21-24 New English Translation (NET Bible)
21 They have been informed about you—that you teach all the Jews now living among the Gentiles to abandon Moses, telling them not to circumcise their children or live according to our customs. 22 What then should we do? They will no doubt hear that you have come. 23 So do what we tell you: We have four men who have taken a vow; 24 take them and purify yourself along with them and pay their expenses, so that they may have their heads shaved. Then everyone will know there is nothing in what they have been told about you, but that you yourself live in conformity with the law.
Ephesians 5:5-6 New Living Translation (NLT)
5 You can be sure that no immoral, impure, or greedy person will inherit the Kingdom of Christ and of God. For a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world. 6 Don’t be fooled by those who try to excuse these sins, for the anger of God will fall on all who disobey him.
2 Thessalonians 2:3 Complete Jewish Bible (CJB)
3 Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way. For the Day will not come until after the Apostasy has come and the man who separates himself from Torah has been revealed, the one destined for doom.
Romans 6:15-16 Common English Bible (CEB)
15 So what? Should we sin because we aren’t under Law but under grace? Absolutely not! 16 Don’t you know that if you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, that you are slaves of the one whom you obey? That’s true whether you serve as slaves of sin, which leads to death, or as slaves of the kind of obedience that leads to righteousness.
Romans 3:31 New King James Version (NKJV)
31 Do we then make void the law through faith? Certainly not! On the contrary, we establish the law.
Romans 2:13 Common English Bible (CEB)
13 It isn’t the ones who hear the Law who are righteous in God’s eyes. It is the ones who do what the Law says who will be treated as righteous.
Romans 7:7 Complete Jewish Bible (CJB)
7 Therefore, what are we to say? That the Torah is sinful? Heaven forbid! Rather, the function of the Torah was that without it, I would not have known what sin is. For example, I would not have become conscious of what greed is if the Torah had not said, “Thou shalt not covet.”
Romans 8:7 Complete Jewish Bible (CJB)
7 For the mind controlled by the old nature is hostile to God, because it does not submit itself to God’s Torah — indeed, it cannot.
2 Timothy 2:19 Easy-to-Read Version (ERV)
19 But God’s strong foundation never moves, and these words are written on it: “The Lord knows those who belong to him.” Also, these words are written there: “Everyone who says they believe in the Lord must stop doing wrong.”
Colossians 3:4-6 Easy-to-Read Version (ERV)
4 Yes, Christ is now your life, and when he comes again, you will share in his glory. 5 So put everything evil out of your life: sexual sin, doing anything immoral, letting sinful thoughts control you, and wanting things that are wrong. And don’t keep wanting more and more for yourself, which is the same as worshiping a false god. 6 God will show his anger against those who don’t obey him, because they do these evil things.

Matthew 23:1-3 New English Translation (NET Bible)
23 Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples, 2 “The experts in the law and the Pharisees sit on Moses’ seat. 3 Therefore pay attention to what they tell you and do it. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they teach.
Matthew 5:17-19 Easy-to-Read Version (ERV)
17 “Don’t think that I have come to destroy the Law of Moses or the teaching of the prophets. I have come not to destroy their teachings but to give full meaning to them. 18 I assure you that nothing will disappear from the law until heaven and earth are gone. The law will not lose even the smallest letter or the smallest part of a letter until it has all been done. 19 “A person should obey every command in the law, even one that does not seem important. Whoever refuses to obey any command and teaches others not to obey it will be the least important in God’s kingdom. But whoever obeys the law and teaches others to obey it will be great in God’s kingdom.
Matthew 7:12 Complete Jewish Bible (CJB)
12 “Always treat others as you would like them to treat you; that sums up the teaching of the Torah and the Prophets.
Matthew 7:20-23 Christian Standard Bible (CSB)
20 So you’ll recognize them by their fruit. 21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, didn’t we prophesy in your name, drive out demons in your name, and do many miracles in your name?’ 23 Then I will announce to them, ‘I never knew you. Depart from me, you lawbreakers!’

John 14:21 New King James Version (NKJV)
21 He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.”
John 15:10 English Standard Version (ESV)
10 If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love.
1 John 3:4 Complete Jewish Bible (CJB)
4 Everyone who keeps sinning is violating Torah — indeed, sin is violation of Torah.
1 John 3:21-22 New King James Version (NKJV)
21 Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence toward God. 22 And whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight.
1 John 3:7-8 Complete Jewish Bible (CJB)
7 Children, don’t let anyone deceive you — it is the person that keeps on doing what is right who is righteous, just as God is righteous. 8 The person who keeps on sinning is from the Adversary, because from the very beginning the Adversary has kept on sinning. It was for this very reason that the Son of God appeared, to destroy these doings of the Adversary.
1 John 2:3-6 Common English Bible (CEB)
3 This is how we know that we know him: if we keep his commandments. 4 The one who claims, “I know him,” while not keeping his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in this person. 5 But the love of God is truly perfected in whoever keeps his word. This is how we know we are in him. 6 The one who claims to remain in him ought to live in the same way as he lived.
2 John 6 New King James Version (NKJV)
6 This is love, that we walk according to His commandments. This is the commandment, that as you have heard from the beginning, you should walk in it.
3 John 11 New King James Version (NKJV)
11 Beloved, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. He who does good is of God, but he who does evil has not seen God.
Revelation 12:17 Common English Bible (CEB)
17 So the dragon was furious with the woman, and he went off to make war on the rest of her children, on those who keep God’s commandments and hold firmly to the witness of Jesus.
Revelation 14:12 Easy-to-Read Version (ERV)
12 This means that God’s holy people must be patient. They must obey God’s commands and keep their faith in Jesus.
So much sense in this view, as someone who's grown up protestant it's been a blessing to learn more orthodox theology. I intend to convert in the new year.
Ephesian 2:8-9 Yes! Ephesians 2:8-9
Jesus said, "Every branch in me that beareth not FRUIT he [the Father] taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit." (John 15:2) We must distinguish between this and "works of the law," which in Paul's letter to the Galations means ritual Jewish observances. Also, notice the words "in me" meaning the branch already in Christ. We must produce fruit (good deeds) to demonstrate our union with Jesus or we will be removed from the vine altogether. Sadly, Protestants do not teach this and work hard to refute it.
To him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace but of debt, but to him that WORKETH NOT, but BELIEVETH on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
And if it be of works then it is no more grace…. for by grace are ye saved, through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, NOT OF WORKS, lest any man should boast
And call no man on the earth father, for one is your father who is in heaven
Even David also describeth the blessedness of the man unto whom God imputeth righteousness, WITHOUT WORKS.
amen! Spot on. This is a perfect explanation
In faith we are justified by God
In works we are justified by Man
As a Protestant, I always try to understand what is meant from other positions as to never misrepresent them. Am I correct or incorrect in the following analysis?
Justification is by faith alone by grace alone, but that faith that the person possesses is never alone in that fruit is seen by those who possess true faith. In other words, is faith and works the means of justification or is works the result of justification?
We are saved by grace trough Faith in Jesus Christ. apart from works..
Thankyou
Hello
“Salvation is a free gift BUT we must work and repent in order to enable ourselves to receive gods grace”
The definition of a contradictory statement!
Thank you Father Spyridon I have been drawn to the Orthodox church after all that I have been up until this point in life, finally knowing where i must be, and have been praying in the dark on my knees daily for God to let me feel faith in Jesus Christ not just know him and his deed. Though on my knees I do know and feel I have lived wickedly and repent, I cannot feel my faith i have intellectually in Jesus Christ, but I will continue to pray each day no matter the silence in reply in both my waking life and my dreams, for I want salvation for myself and my wife, and I will never stop asking him to be with me. Bless you father

Works are a result of faith.
Faith and work should go together
John Calvin said (and I am paraphrasing), "We are saved by faith alone, but the faith that saves is never alone." Reformed Christians do not believe that mere mental assent is true faith (since you did not define faith I am assuming this is what you are characterizing our view to be). We believe that saving faith is the gift of God resulting from the new birth and the proclamation of the Gospel. Faith is a deep, abiding union with Christ that leads to good works. We are not justified by a mixture of faith and works, as the Catholics argued during the reformation. Rather, since true salvation is entirely the work of God, works will follow as we grow and mature in our relationship with Him. There is a lot more that needs to be unpacked from this brief statement. But I hope this suffices for now.
We are saved by repentance and faith in Christ. Isn't that how the thief on the cross entered Heaven? He was a sinner until hours before his death, so it wasn't his works. But true faith and repentance will naturally move you to do good works as your heart is changed by the Holy Spirit.
But good works are hard to do. Don't we require grace to be able to overcome the passions?
Faith that saves is the one that worketh not, but is regenerated by the holy ghost.
Father,May,"God " bless you for your insights.
