"The Church is the kingdom of God on earth." I've never heard that before. Thank you for this discussion. God bless you and Merry Christmas.
Beautiful, thank you. Χριστός Γεννάται!
Glory be to God, Thank you for sharing. Each Orthodox Christian truly needs this as a Reminder on how to Properly approach Christmas, even myself.
Think of our selves as a balloon that naturally tries to rise up to god; the more material things we cling to, the more unlikely that balloon will ever rise.
Thank you so much for this video!!!
Stop the gift giving and read the Word to each other on Christmas instead as a true gift! We know the date is incorrect of His birth so let's celebrate the gift of our Saviour and be examples to others instead. Every year on Facebook I post the genealogy of Christ and post biblical quotes.
This video is spot on.
It breaks my heart that here in the West they use Christmas just for marketing and making money.
They have given the kids santa, raindeers and grinches instead of Jesus .
Bad times are ahead for these new generations.
The concept of transcending time during the Church's Feasts and Holy Liturgy, is probably one of the most profound and meaningful gifts that our Lord has to offer us Orthodox Christians. I do wish our priests kept this magnificent truth at the forefront of every message they give! Thank you so much!
Keep up the good work God bless you and the Roman Catholic church and the Protestant also. After all we are one body in Christ some parts are stronger than others but we all are one body.!
As I grew up in America, the Nativity and the Religious Christmas songs were part of the culture , even in the schools. Now, that there are more people and children of different faiths, it’s important to share each other’s holidays to better understand each other. But it needs to be equal. . Somehow the Christian beliefs shared about Christmas have been reduced to the secular version , while the other religions, especially the Jewish faith, is allowed to bring their religion into the public sector. A secular Christmas tree, represents Christianity instead of a nativity scene, in public places , while a Menorah, a definite religious symbol represents Judaism.
In public schools , books are read about the religious lighting of the Menorah, while books about Santa’s reindeer are read about Christmas, with no books allowed about the birth of Christ as the reason for the season. Menorahs and the Star of David are made in art projects, while Candy canes are made during this season. Songs about the Miracle of the oil of the Menorah and the dreidel are allowed but , not the religious Christmas carols. Our school system also teaches the religious Hindi and Muslim holidays.
As Christians, we need to stand up for the true representations of holidays, just like the other faiths , so we too can be understood best by others.
Thank you so much🙏🏻. God bless

Always thanks for this video and all videos.
I don't know how Greek orthodox are down in The Atlanta Metropolis
But yes I have noticed in other parts Greeks have blended in with modern tradition which I feel they could also lead to other dangerous things. I really hope with lectures and good videos people can turn things around there's nothing wrong singing Christmas songs there's a lot of Christmas songs that point to Christ but let's not forget Christ is the reason for the season everyone should be following a the fast the calendar which as a light fast calendar I don't see a reason of feasting every day then feasting again on December 25th.
It's a beautiful time of the year but I feel without the church it means nothing .we are celebrating the birth of Christ who was born to die for us.
Even though it's fun getting gifts for people but now we all wanna get the best gift for someone but we are forgetting especially with our orthodox tradition and Greek tradition gifs are really given a New Year's.
I really hope our church turns things around Because A lot of parts of the country they do water down our faith and parishes don't promote fasting and serve during lent milk and dairy products For coffee hour.
I know there's a lot of work we should all work together to get people back into the faith and to understand the real meaning of orthodoxy
Father Papageorgiou, my intention is not to bestow the sin of pride upon you but I want to say how much l appreciated and truly enjoyed your video on how Luther looked upon the Orthodox. Your historical analysis is vast and substantial. You are very literate and you explain in a thorough and in such a way that is easy to comprehend and remember. You spoke the truth on how Christ shows us his humility and that regardless of how humble he was that we should celebrate his nativity. Thank you for reminding us that we shouldn't get lost in the secular celebration but participate in his nativity through the divine liturgy, like you correctly said the transcendence of time, beautifully said. You said that you were from Cyprus, My mother was from there, from a place called Famagusta Cyprus, she always spoke on how she misses that city, nevertheless God love you father.
Christmas for me is a festival for me too light up the earth with the Lord Jesus and worship God with thanks giving, I light all my home with white lights, and sit down with my family on Christmas day with a family meal and
just be thankful for what we have. I also think of all of the people who are in the world who have nothing. I love to reflect on the gift of love and charity that stirring up in people at this time. I only wish that the spirit of Christmas was very much active in everyone every day through the year and not just for Christmas and Easter holidays. If we are meant to be following the Lord Jesus then we are to reach out to people every day and not just give at Christmas and Easter. I don't look on Christmas day as the actual birthday of the Lord Jesus, but I accept that we have given him a set date for people to remind us of the word of God Amen. Jesus demonstrated that we were all equal in the sight of God Amen. We all are to be a good samaritain and a good friend and not to pass by or ignore someone in need of help, if we have the ability to help. My view of the word of God Amen is to help people who are less fortunate than yourself. In this world today so many people are selfish and caring only about their own personal needs in love with themselves and money and fame values are material things that will never satisfy their needs. But the word of God Amen, you have a satisfying sense of what you are doing and feeding your soul with the Lord Jesus the living water and manna. My understanding of the word of God Amen is to live in the word of God Amen and following the actions of the Lord Jesus and model yourself in the spirit of the Lord Jesus, Jesus the leading character of the word of God Amen and me just a humble understudy to observe the Lord Jesus and then put his actions and testament into my heart and daily life. I personally have been blessed with the Lord Jesus and led me to where I am now, I have no church upbringing and no education to talk of, but from a young age I used to pray to God and saying goodnight to Jesus and the Holy spirit. I have been blessed with a strong voice to help me telling me our to pray, and I have been led to open the Bible at random and proceed to read where I was led by the power of the Holy spirit. I have been using this method for many years and I taught the importance of daily communication with the Lord Jesus to pray morning and evening with the Bible, and then pray for the vulnerable people that I have been led to pray for. I have even had my family ask me who I am talking to, for example I will have a voice and a conversation with the Lord Jesus about topics of my life and purpose and I forget and answer the Lord Jesus to why I have to say that I was just thinking allowed or just talking to myself. My husband has now got used to me being awake in the early hours of the night when the Lord Jesus is communicating with me. Three years ago I gave myself to the Lord Jesus has a living sacrifice, while I was praying for him save the life of my son who was in intensive care after his car accident. The experience was much more than a water baptism, for His spirit lit up my bedroom and the light of the Holy spirit raining down on me like a shower of little bright white lights and a electric feeling from the top of my head through me to my feet and I ended up on the floor sobbing my heart out, but they were tears of joy but I couldn't stop crying and crying soaking wet with tears. After that I felt so alive and I just felt intoxicated and cold not stop praising the Lord Jesus and the Bible, everyone I met with in the supermarket, hospital waiting room, in the street. The world looked differently and I noticed so many people were begging on the streets and people homeless people, and I have been led by the Lord Jesus to people and out of the blue, giving them money, and buying them food and hugging them and telling them that they are loved by the Lord Jesus and giving them hope and telling them about how the Lord Jesus himself had led me to help them. So although many people will be celebrating Christmas but sadly more than ever people have no belief in the Bible or the Lord Jesus. For I have encountered some issues with people who are opposed to the Lord Jesus and the Bible and are in complete denial of God. I have things like the matrix and the Bible is a made up story, and so many people are being deceived by science fiction and the big bang theory. It does not help with all the different religious rituals and ceremonies and the difference in teachings for there is only one God and only one way to achieve the promises of God Amen, and the Lord Jesus is the only way. He is key to the door of the kingdom of God Amen.
Thank you both. 🙏🏻☦️
Thank you, Fathers. God bless you and all the Orthodox faithful! Let's pray also for the Orthodox Christians and other innocent civilians in countries such as Syria and Ukraine who, because of political reasons, will suffer persecution at this time. Just think, they will still joyfully celebrate the beauty of Christ's birth even in their unimaginably difficult circumstances. Let's pray for Father Onufry and the canonical Orthodox in Ukraine. Remember the martyrs and pray for their families in Syria. Let's pray for the Orthodox Christians in Jerusalem that they may be allowed by the Israeli gov't to worship Christ in this season at their Church.
There was a lot of things happening during the Incarnation but the shepherds left their flocks, their very livelihood to see this miracle.
Merry Christmas! Thank you both.Love from Greece.
Xmas's is fake it's a pegan tradition of man ,including Easter ,Halloween and New Year stuff and Valentine's Day and mother's Day and father's day and the Pastor's know and including all the priest's ,that we shouldn't celebrate idols and the 25 th of December is not Jesus real birthday …People are so corrupted by tradition that can't seem to research on the own to find the truth ….Churches make money off people for their own benefit ….We only need to worship JESUS and nothing more than that …
Good advice even for Ukrainian Greek Catholics. Thank you.
Thanks you my dears <3 Save God you my dears <3 Salvation in Christ <3

Whether I had money or not my most happy gift that I gave everybody was a large goodie box filled with all sorts of sweets and candies and savory goodies let me know. I put my whole heart and soul into making those boxes and people love them as much as I loved to make them. Now my family is all dead and I am not an old woman I also have no close friends or even acquaintances. I want to convert deeply but due to the pandemic cannot go to my local Greek Orthodox Church so I watch on TV. The last five years I have sat alone at Christmas even when my mother was alive she was horribly abusive and only came for Christmas with me twice in 8 years! I would still send up her goody box and the extra fudge that I knew she loved. Last Christmas was devoted to Jesus and this Christmas looks like it may be the same which is a good way to spend Christmas but I am used to giving of myself and I miss that.
I don't know if you would call it a party but I always had a Christmas Eve open house with lots of finger foods homemade and goodies and we would watch a Christmas film. Then we cleaned everything up and went to church. When I was Protestant we went to church first and then went to my aunt's house for an open house and all the kids stayed up stairs and had a wonderful time together!
