Holy relics are a clear anticipation of the transfigured body after universal ressurection. The very fact that the bodies of the saints are kept in a state of incorruptibility is a foretaste, an anticipation of their future incorruptibility after resurrection and after their full theosis, deification. “But we all,” writes St. Paul to the Corinthians, “with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord” (II Cor.3:18).
Thank you for posting this interesting video. I hope some day to visit one of these Orthodox churches/monasteries and actually see and venerate these saints.
why all this fighting between catholic and orthodox? I myself am neither (secular shia muslim), but you are both Christians. Please, get along…
Holy relics were big business back in the day for Catholic and Orthodox Churches. Possession of a famous relic was a great way to entice parishioners and draw new members to a church. It didn't take very long for Church leaders to see a way to earn money so they hid the really popular relics from public view and only displayed them on certain special occasions. Of course it would be wrong to charge a fee to see the relic so instead the Churches encouraged folks to make a charitable donation in honor of the saint that the relic was supposedly from. I suspect that DNA, Carbon dating and other forensic tests would show that many of these relics are much younger than they claim to be because Churches often took pieces off corpses that were naturally mummified in crypts beneath the church and passes them off as relics of a long dead saint. The supposed head of John The Baptist is an excellent example. 2 hours of scientific examination and some very small tissue samples could prove or disprove the authenticity of this relic but the Church will not permit this because they have a lot to loose and nothing to gain. Remember the Shroud of Turin? That was proven to be a fake relic produced nearly 1300 years after Christ's death.
It's a dead body, the soul has moved on. Why continue to spend so much to dress a corpse in fancy clothes?
Which is this song in video?
Praise God for giving us Catholic and orthodox incorruptible saints as manifestations of their glory!

Orthodoxy is a quasi-Romanist religious system with idolatry and ritualism akin to that practised in the Romanism church
