Why does the process of a catechumen takes so long?
"Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus. 36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? 37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. 38 And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him."
I always enjoy listening to Kh. Fredericka. As a catechumen, I feel what she described-there’s so much information I don’t know.
I love her reading. It could be me and my wife who has a different faith. I'll have to pick up a copy.
Yes and yes! Though I don't think it is merely 7 years, but a whole lifetime, there is so much to learn and treasure! Then in the age to come, unending! 🙂
Thank you! Lovely talk, lovely channel. God Bless everyone who is listening. 🙏🌺🌺🌺
I am in the UK, South East. Is there anyone out there who can recommend a good church and community as an enquirer…..xx
This was good, nice. Like a kind, wise friend yet still growing. thank you
I’m a 28 year convert and agree absolutely that to become Orthodox and gain understanding, attend services and live the liturgical calendar. Everything is there!
I’m not against books, but they aren’t enough. We aren’t one dimensional beings.
I’m saving this video to share with newcomers… so many are flocking in weekly!
This woman is amazing! vI am profoundly moved by the love and grace that oozes out of her.
As an incomplete faith owing to the principle of sola scriptura, Protestantism must try to complete its faith by reasoning syllogistically. Doing so it is never able to come to the knowledge of the truth in all its fullness; it remains a perpetual forge of individual isms. This, I suspect, is what gives Protestantism its cerebral character, divorced from practical life. By contrast, as Khouria says, Orthodoxy is holistic, a seamless organic unity.
Always love listening to Frederica
My wife and I will be – God willing – welcomed and blessed as new catechumens, this coming Sunday, at St. Silouan's in Southampton, UK.
In Toronto it is almost impossible to join the Orthodox Church unless one belongs to one of the ethnic groups the Church represents. The Churches present as closed shops. In the end, I decided to attend mass at the SSPX, which is open and accessible to all ethnic groups.
This journey actually never ends. You always learn new stuff and you always realise your stuff becomes the new information and revelation. From glory to glory it’s supposed to be…
I love the joy on her face about her faith.
It's interesting, that if you google something like "Why I became Eastern Orthodox" you find many many results, but if you google "Why I left Eastern Orthodoxy" you don't find all that much. Either people who want to leave are shot and buried in secret, or people tend not to leave in large numbers. I suppose there might be large numbers of cradle orthodox folk who simply drift away perhaps, but don't make a big thing about it….
