I like his explanations of "blind spots."
Thank you for this series! Fr. Lawrence has a way of speaking simply, yet deeply and I appreciate his thoughts very much.
Good video, thank you for doing it. I prefer the color ones btw.
Love your channel.
Calvinist is a heresy!!!
I remember this teaching from so many years ago. Once saved, always saved. You can live like a heathen but you will only lose your rewards as little gifts added to your eternal salvation. Ouch.
The Father stated something about ionios (sp), I am unfamiliar about the meaning.
Another very good video. I love the monochrome. This also needs a much tighter aperture. Father's hands go in and out of focus a lot, which is a bit distracting.
He is very knowledgeable and always has great commentary.
Very well stated Father!
"Scripture is culturally expressed, not culturally conditioned." Great line
Father Farley's observations sound self evidently true.
And I thought Jesus spoke in parables.
in the world but not of the world
I'm not sure what he is insinuating with regard to slavery. It seems he is judging that the Old Testament Scriptures were morally wrong to permit slavery. That would be a very grave mistake.
Islam and thats kind of cristianity is very close .
THE GREEK BIBLE IS THE ONLY
TRUTH AND READING IT EVERY DAY YOU WILL FIND ALL THE ANSWERS NEVER PUT YOUR TRUST ON ANY MAN BIT ONLY
TO FATHER SON AND HOLY SPIRIT TO BE SAVED
As I listen to this I was under the impression that he was grouping Protestants together in this discussion. When it comes to calvinistic teaching let's be reminded that only a small percentage of Protestants subscribe to that view. Those who are ignorant tend to group them together because of the loud voice of the reformed movement. Also, when it comes to modern secular thinking, it sounded once again like he was attributing that to Protestants. It was as a matter of fact a product of biblical criticism which found its origin and expression from professors of the Roman tradition. For the most part it was never embraced by Protestants. I have heard the good father in several interviews make claims about Protestants that simply are not factual. As I deeply study the origins of the truly apostolic Orthodox Church, I encourage my good brother to learn about what Protestants actually teach. He claims to know but his statements show otherwise.
Interesting, thanks.
I am very much impressed with Fr. Farley. I highly recommend you listen to the podcast he did with Hank Hanagraff of the Christian Research Institute. Its a hour and a half of mesmerizing commentary on what is Hell and its the best interpretation I have ever heard as a believing Christian.
Thanks Father Lawrence! It’s hard to enjoy visiting some church services or funerals at times because I have a PhD in Biblical Literature and I listen to so much bad interpretation. It makes me really appreciate the liturgy of St John Chrysostomos.
Common sense!
