Thank you Father Philip for giving us these gifts of understanding. These explanations change so many misguided ideas.
I especially loved understanding that it is the faith of God that saves us. It is up to us to be in sight of God’s love and remain there.
My upbringing in American churches had me believe that I had to do all things the right way through the church or be damned by God. God was the ultimate punisher. I had rebelled against such faith, considering it such a rotten deal.
You created me so that I should worship you or be blasted into hell if I misstep along the way? Then to add another challenge, make me imperfect.
You explained that that makes sense only if God is a monster. You, my parish priest Father Dragan and a podcast by Father Thomas Hopco have done a wonderful job of explaining the total love and mercy from God.
