Great talk, much appreciated! I agree that the Holy Spirit is given by the laying on of hands by the apostles ( in our times the bishops) but I’m not sure if this is the only means of receiving Him. In Acts chapter 9 the apostle Paul received the Holy Spirit through the laying on of hands by a common disciple. In Acts chapter 10 the Holy Spirit falls on the household of Cornelius while Peter is preaching the gospel to them. Is it correct to interpret Dionysus as saying that the sacramental priesthood represents the three stages of spiritual progress ie purgation, illumination and perfection? If this is a correct reading then wouldn’t anyone who has progressed in the Way have the “lot” to impart the Holy Spirit?
