Ephrem the Syrian (Classical Syriac: ܡܪܝ ܐܦܪܝܡ ܣܘܪܝܝܐ Mār Ap̠rêm Suryāyâ, Classical Syriac pronunciation: [mɒr aɸˈrem surˈjɒˌjɒ]; Koine Greek: Ἐφραίμ ὁ Σῦρος; Latin: Ephraem Syrus, also known as Saint Ephraem, Ephrem, or Ephraim; c. 306 – 373) was a Syriac Christian deacon and a prolific Syriac-language hymnographer and theologian of the fourth century.
Ephrem is especially beloved in the Syriac Orthodox Church, and counted as a Venerable Father (i.e., a sainted Monk) in the Eastern Orthodox Church. His feast day is celebrated on 28 January and on the Saturday of the Venerable Fathers. He was declared a Doctor of the Church in the Catholic Church in 1920.
Ephrem wrote a wide variety of hymns, poems, and sermons in verse, as well as prose exegesis. These were works of practical theology for the edification of the Church in troubled times. So popular were his works, that, for centuries after his death, Christian authors wrote hundreds of pseudepigraphal works in his name. He has been called the most significant of all of the fathers of the Syriac-speaking church tradition.

The same group of people trying to take down Trump and America are the ones behind what is going on in Syria today. How do you think the Islamist destroying Syria can sustain a war this long against two professional national militaries?

Why do y’all talk and move so slow? There’s plenty of content to maintain the time, but increase the rate of speech. Forgive me, I struggle to watch due to the slow pace.
Here is a poem attributed to St. Ephrem the Syrian, Harp of the Holy Spirit:
The eye is clear if united to the sun. By its light it conquers armies.
It shines with its light, gleams with its brilliance, is adorned by its beauty.
As though on an eye, the light dwelt in Mary and purified her spirit;
it cleansed her thoughts, sanctified her conscience and perfected her virginity.
The river in which He was baptized conceived Him symbolically.
The moist womb of the water conceived Him in purity,
bore Him in splendor and made Him ascend in glory.
In the chaste womb of the river recognize the Daughter of man,
who conceived without knowing man and gave birth without the seed of man.
By grace she formed the Lord of grace. Light in the river, splendor in the tomb.
He skipped over the mountain, shone in the maternal womb,
was resplendent in His rising, was radiant as He rose to the heavens.
+TrisagionFilms , you have once again mastered the ability to craft beautiful story telling with stunning visuals, and a meditative and prayerful sound which emphasizes the hesychia which these saintly men and women found in their own lives by the grace of our Christ. Thank you so much, reflecting on the live of the ever venerable Ephrem I pray that this Great Fast is one of introspection, humility, and a drawing nearer to our God.

May God forgive all the dark souls that perpetrate this destruction and replace darkness with Light and Love.
I arrived at this beautifully created video via a brilliant conversation between author Rod Dreher and Jonathan Pageau, two orthodox believers. Mr Dreher has written "Live not by Lies" and mentioned the beautiful and profound writings of Saint Ephrem of Syria. I think viewers here would also appreciate their conversation. I am chastened by the faith of Orthodox believers. Bless you all.
